baby steps

You have massive dreams. You have huge goals.

You want to leap to the top of the mountain. The yearning is unbearable. You want to be there yesterday.
You're burning a hole in your mind calculating the path from A to B.

Breathe.

Pause.

Slow down.

You don't get to the top of a ladder by skipping to the top, you climb rung by rung, one foot after the other. You don't throw your entire meal in your mouth at once, you eat it bite by bite.
I apply a similar method of getting things done by breaking all tasks and goals into baby steps.

Breaking life down into digestible parts makes it manageable. It is easy to get overwhelmed because you're thinking of step eight or nine when you haven't even completed step two yet. You can't see step seven until you finish step six, so why stress about it?

Walk before you run, crawl before you walk.

What is on your list? How can you divide it into the tiniest steps possible? What is the next step in front of you to take?

When I break life down into small, simple, chronological steps I find that everything falls into place with ease. When I stop overlooking the next logical step, any part of the plan I was worried about comes to me once I get there.
That's how the universe works, it provides what you need when you need it and when you're ready for it.
When I get ahead of myself I end up frustrated and burnt out. When I remind myself to divide everything into smaller steps it's easier to start again.
