be specific

What I am learning about achieving your dreams, through study and experience, is that you need to be very specific about what you want.

Incredibly specific.

It's interesting to experience how much getting specific about what you want changes you. Putting your goals in the drivers seat influences your path forward in a significant way. If you get in your car without inputting the address in the GPS, how will it know where to direct you?

You will wander aimlessly until you know the address of your dreams.

Finding that specific address can be more complicated than you realize.

I thought I knew exactly what I wanted and when I realized I didn't know, I thought it would be quick and easy to figure out. It has not been quick and it has not been easy.

I have had to overhaul my life, I have had to become someone new, I have had to remove nearly every person and thing from my life in order to get a fully focused image of my goals. Before I did this work, all I had has was a blurry picture that I could only vaguely make sense of.

When I began this journey I repeatedly asked for clarity.

To gain clarity, I edited.

To gain clarity, I moved.

To gain clarity, I changed.

To gain clarity, I meditated.

To gain clarity, I found the quiet.

To gain clarity, I killed distractions.

To gain clarity, I had to prioritize myself.

To gain clarity, I had to trust and obey my gut.

To gain clarity, I had to drown out and remove myself from negativity.

This process felt like a battle. There was a war between who I was and who I've become. There have been tears and bruises but in many ways it was easy and in every way it was worth it.

Looking at my goals now I see that they're the same goals I've always had, I just couldn't see them clearly until I cleaned out my life and my mind.

If you already know what you want down to the tiniest detail, mazel tov.

If you've just realized your image is blurry...

Focus, buckle up and have fun.

  1. As humans, we have always held this concept of finality being bliss. That we’re all working towards this bigger picture dream, goal or aspiration. What is usually left out of the picture, is the work, the obstacles and errors that will come before ever reaching that point. Although, it is extremely rewarding to look back and see how your effort has transformed into the manifestation you’ve always wanted , eventually , as we all do, boredom will sweep in, and a new purpose will be forged. The truth is, there is no end. It’s a never ending journey of wandering. Some people are lead by the ropes that others set down for them, while others may climb with their own hands. It’s not always safe, but it is beautiful . Our ancestors wandered and in doing so, they discovered. Sometimes the things you need most, are in the most unexpected places.
